UFC Returns to Canada with Two Title Fights and Hometown Heroes
UFC 315 lands in Montreal this Saturday, bringing two championship belts and a lineup packed with Canadian talent.
In the headliner, welterweight champion Belal Muhammad will defend his title for the first time against challenger Jack Della Maddalena. Though Della Maddalena has won his last 17 fights, he’ll enter the octagon as a considerable underdog +180, with the champ coming back at -240.*
The co-main event will see the women's flyweight belt on the line, as Valentina Shevchenko faces challenger Manon Fiorot in a fight that’s expected to end with a new champion. Despite Shevchenko fighting in her 12th straight title bout, and the eighth title defence of her career, the champ is a +120 underdog, with Fiorot’s 12-fight win streak helping to establish her as a -150 favourite.
Along with the two title fights, UFC 315 will feature plenty of Canadian muscle. In the main card, Quebec native Aiemann Zahabi (+175), cornered by UFC legend and BET99 Ambassador Georges St-Pierre, will try to deliver an upset for the home crowd against a legend in Jose Aldo (-230).
The prelims will see a trio of home favourites, with Ontario’s Mike Malott (-250) against Charlie Radtke (+190), Jasmine Jasudavicius (-310) vs. Jessica Andrade (+230), and Marc-André Barriault (-150) against Bruno Silva (+120). Meanwhile, Manitoba’s Brad Katona will try to start the night off with an upset, as he faces Bekzat Almakhan (-190) as a +145 underdog.
With two titles on the line and a stacked roster of hometown fighters, UFC 315 gives Canada plenty to cheer for.
