NFC Contenders Look to Knock Divisional Rivals Off Perch

The NFC may lack the depth of contenders boasted by the AFC, but what it lacks in depth it makes up in high-level contenders. Last year’s NFC Championship was seen as, both ahead of time and with hindsight, the de facto Super Bowl.  

With two NFC West teams on a collision course, that could again be the case as they headline a pack of five teams with odds shorter than 10/1 to represent the NFC.  

Rams (+290) 

The Rams’ offseason included the acquisition of one of the NFL's best defensive players in Myles Garrett and the looming return of one of the greatest players in league history in Aaron Donald… but otherwise a quiet few months for the league’s glamor franchise. As all-in as it gets, L.A. has nudged ahead of its rival on paper.   

Seahawks (+575) 

After they retained the bulk of their Super Bowl-winning team, the big question for the Seahawks is how the offense performs under new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury after Klint Kubiak took the Raiders' head coaching job. In a buzzsaw NFC West, they can’t afford that question to go awry.  

Eagles (+790) 

It seems odd to say for a Super Bowl-winning QB, but it’s a sink-or-swim season for Jalen Hurts. Gone are the training wheels of an offensive structure that allowed him to avoid weaker parts of his game. In Sean Mannion’s offense, Hurts will be expected to throw over the middle, read both sides of the field, and ultimately, help to halt the offensive regression that sunk the Eagles last season.  

Lions (+875) 

Though many are quick to forget about the Lions after an oh-so-close 2023 and the upstart Bears taking the shine in division, they remain an elite offense, led by the newly extended Jahmyr Gibbs. If they can finally solve pass rush woes and get healthy in the secondary, Detroit should re-emerge as a contender.  

49ers (+900) 

Despite the endless injuries and generally being overshadowed by the Rams and Seahawks, there were the 49ers in Week 18 last season playing for the No. 1 seed and home field in the NFC playoffs. With Mike Evans added and a cast of contributors returning from injury, the zombie 49ers could factor yet again in the league’s best division.
